Hello, I’m trying to research my husband’s family line. He is a descendent of John Carroll Houston. What we are trying to determine is if there is any truth to the family lore that John C Houston was cousins with Sam Houston, of Texas fame. Is there any information you can give me?
Hi Hayley, I cannot confirm or deny the family lore. We have not traced John Carroll Houston’s family before the Carolinas, and we have not traced Sam Houston at all. In general it is a common practice of family lore’s to center around famous people with the same surname. Most often they prove false, but not always.
