November is here already! It has been a year of growth for our membership; we are back close to pre-COVID numbers. Our membership numbers have gone from 122 (2022 yearend) to our current count of 143. The 2023 monthly meeting presentations have been varied, both in topic and format – we’ve had a good combination of in-person and virtual (live) presenters. Subjects included Family Tree Maker; the use of death and funeral records; conversion of old photographs, slides, and videos for digital retention; the westward migration of the Catholic pioneers; the history of the turpentine industry in Nassau County; the Florida State Genealogical Society’s Florida Pioneer Descendant Certificate Program; and a view of land deeds (and what can be learned there). The Library Committee provided two programs this summer exploring hardcopy (books, magazines, etc.) and online (Ancestry.com) genealogy resources available at the Fernandina Public Library. There is one more meeting this year – please join us for our November program (11/21/23)!
Looking ahead to 2024, it is time to renew (or restart) your Amelia Island Genealogical Society membership. New memberships are welcome! Membership dues remain the same as 2023, $25 for an individual, $35 for a “family” (two family members residing at same address). Membership payment is easy:

Would You Consider?
If possible, please consider an additional donation (above your annual dues) to support the society’s activities. AIGS is a qualifying public charity – donations are deductible when you itemize on their federal income tax return. If you are paying your membership dues online, there is an opportunity to add a gift donation during the renewal payment process. If you are paying by check, you can add the amount to your membership dues and note your gift donation in the check memo line.
Thank You!
Many thanks for your (past and future) support of AIGS. Your membership dues are vital in support of the benefits provided to you – our members! Please contact me at membership@aigensoc.org if you have any questions.
