Pre-1837 British Research, From Your Armchair

September 15 @ 7:00 pm 8:30 pm

The Amelia Island Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7pm on the 3rd Tuesday, (15 September 2026), in the community room at the Fernandina Branch Library. The public is invited to join us!

Description:
Paul Howe will show the wide variety of online records available for researching your British forebears prior to civil registration in 1837 and give pointers on how to use them. He will provide a double-sided page of sources for further study.

About Paul:
Paul is the founder of the One-Name Study into his surname, reconstructing families for anyone named Howes (or House or Howse) anywhere in the world at any time. After 18 years work, he now has nearly 232,000 people in his online databases at howesfamilies.com and howes.one-name.net.

Currently President of the St Augustine Genealogical Society, Paul has spoken to groups and conferences on both sides of the Atlantic. Paul was Chairman of the Guild of One-Name Studies for three years and is now a Vice-President.

An actuary by profession, Paul was a senior partner in a global consulting firm. Born in the UK and now a proud Floridian, he has lived in six countries and worked in over fifty. In his other life, Paul was a keen yachtsman, now sadly without a boat!
