DESCRIPTION:The Amelia Island Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting at 7pm on the 3rd Tuesday\, March 18\, 2025 at the Fernandina Beach Library.Topic: Finding Your Grandmother’s Family — Using the X ChromosomeGuest Speaker: Bob Frey \n\n\n\nAbout Bob Frey\n\n\n\nMr. Frey retired from both CSX and Florida Blue where he held various positions in marketing\, accounting and finance\, corporate planning\, and project management. He holds an AB degree from the University of Missouri and an MBA from the University of Chicago. With his wife Judy’s encouragement\, Bob has been involved in genealogy as a hobby for over 30 years. With the advances in DNA\, he developed an interest in its use as a tool for researching his and others’ ancestors. Bob’s paternal (Y-DNA) haplogroup is R-BY3592; his maternal (mitochondrial or mtDNA) haplogroup is J1C. During this session\, Bob will introduce the use of X chromosome DNA for genealogical research purposes of the maternal ancestry.
